How to get there

By Plane You can rent a car or take the shuttle from all four airports.

By Train Méribel is located 18km from Moûtiers train station (for more details, contact the SNCF). The bus company Transavoie provides a transfer service.

The Ski Train departs from London Waterloo on Friday evenings and arrives at Moûtiers on Saturday mornings (for more information contact Rail Europe).

By Car Take the A43 motorway as far as Albertville, then the dual carriageway to Moûtiers. From there, take the D902 towards Méribel.

Méribel and Mottaret

From the Chaudanne, either walk to the road and wait for the Meribus, or hop onto the very handy 2-stage Rhodos bubble. From the top you can ski down to the Altiport, or from the mid-station to Rond-Point, 1600 or the centre. To facilitate this, Rhodos stays open 30 minutes later than other lifts.

Mottaret also has its own handy 2-stage bubble up to the top of the Laitelet side of the resort.
The Chalets télécabine is free and operates from 08h45 and 19h30.

Ski Meribel

Enjoy an extra days skiing in the Alps, by travelling out to the resort by luxury coach. The seats fold into two sets of totally horizontal bunks, so you can sleep in real comfort, and arrive in the centre of Meribel. Coaches leave every Friday evening from London's Victoria Coach station, and arrive in the resort at 11am the next morning.
Return Coaches depart from Meribel Saturday evening.

Bus Service

A free Meribus service runs between 08.30 and 23.30. After 20.30 services are hourly. There is also a regular bus service to/from Moûtiers train station, leaving 4 times a day during the week from both Mottaret and the Altiport. Tickets cost 11€ one way and 16.50€ return, and are available along with timetables at the Trans Savoie desk in the Tourist Office. Booking is compulsory.

Taxis Ecureulis

Fast, efficient and reliable, this is one of the resorts largest taxi firms, with a large pool of vehicles, all of which are fully equipped with radio telephones, meaning the shortest possible waiting time. Taxi Ecureil also specialise in airport transfers. Certainly the most enjoyable means of travelling between plane and piste, and when shared between a group also very cost effective. They can be reserved from the UK to be waiting for you on your arrival at the airport.

Meritaxis

A group of professional and qualified drivers who have been working together in the resort since 1989. Meri-Taxis are at your service 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. Their vehicles carry up to 8 people. All are equipped with radio telephones. Ski racks and baby seats are also available on request. Méritaxis also specialise in transfers from all airports including Geneva, Lyon, Chambery and others as well as the train stations.

Parking

Méribel has a figure-of-eight one-way system so grab a space when you see it. The large car park just past the centre on the road down to the ice-rink is free.
Opposite this, you will find an underground pay car park with lift access to the town centre. There is also parking by the ice-rink and by the Chaudanne.
The police enforce parking restrictions. Cars that are awkwardly parked are often removed, particularly if they interfere with any of the snow-clearing operations.
If your car gets towed, call the Municipal police on 04 79 00 58 92. Parking meters operate in the centre of the resort from 9am to 8pm.
In later season, unless you want to turn your car into a convertible, beware of ‘chutes de neiges’ as ice and snow melt on the slanting roofs above.
