New for 2004 Calendar History Layout of valley

Lift System

The notoriously steep Creux drag lift back from Courchevel 1650 has been replaced by a new high speed chairlift, Les Gravelles.

The 3 Vallées 1 and 2 chairlifts, the main route back from Val Thorens, have been replaced by a Funitel (seating 20 people per pod), which will dramatically ease the frequent congestion.

In Les Menuires the old Becca lift and the two Les Combes drag lifs have been replaced with a new chairlift, increasing the hourly lifting capacity greatly.

The Pistes

The black Ecureuil which runs from the top of Tougnette between Faon and Combes des Tougnettes makes a welcome reappearance to the piste map. It has been re-modelled and is now a red run.

For beginners, the Côtes drag lift above the Altiport has been extended so skiers can get back from the Altiport to the mid stationof Rhodos, from where they can take the bubble back down to the Chaudanne. Both the Côtes and the Altiport draglifts are free.

The Fouine, Bourbon-Bussey and Ermitage runs have been widened and re-shaped, as has the Blaireau run to give it a new north-facing orientation.

Public Services

Public Toilets have been installed under the Pas du Lac bubble station. 4 new information boards have been installed within the Valley, providing information such as weather conditions, special events etc. 22 New Parking places have been built in the village of Chandon. Video surveillance cameras have been installed in the underground parking areas.

You will now find SnowSystems in Les Trolles building, next to the Casino supermarket at the entrance to the resort. Euro Ski Aventure have moved to the Tremplin complex near the Chaudanne.

Bars and Restaurants

A brand new bar comes to town to add to the wealth of après ski entertaintment already available. Head on down to Fix, next to Jack’s Bar. Red and Gold, Glitzy and glamourous, this bar is sure to be a great success.

Regulars to Meribel will all be aware of Les Castors, one of the resorts favourite lunchtime piste side restaurants. For this season, Maya, daughter of the original owners has entirely rennovated the place to freshen it up, and add a snack bar / take away service.
